What people are saying about Katz Patient Advocate….
I don’t know how I would have gotten through the worst time of my life without having had Myra Katz, of Katz Patient Advocate, in my corner. My husband, of 47 years suddenly became ill, was hospitalized, and within 5 weeks had died. Myra helped navigate my family and me throughout my husband’s hospital stay. She was available to talk to and gave us perspective on how to deal with the hospital and staff. She provided us with questions to ask the doctors and nurses in order to help us better understand what was going on and to ensure that my husband was receiving the best medical care available. Myra is so easy to talk to and always explained things in ways that my family and I could easily understand.
But it didn’t end with my husband’s passing away. Myra has helped me with the medical bills that keep coming in, what to pay for, and what to put on hold. She also guided me through the complicated web of social security, and on how to sign up for my own Medicare, (I had been insured through my husband’s work and didn’t know where to start). She actually knew more than my Medicare broker and gave me invaluable information. Here I am, 7 months after my husband’s untimely passing, and I still reach out to Myra to help me with my own doctor bills and EOB’s.
I plan on continuing my relationship with Myra and am so grateful for her knowledge and compassion. She provides a service that has proven to be invaluable and has empowered me through her expertise.

Having been diagnosed with Breast Cancer is startling. Myra was so calm and rational. I became much calmer. She called it a detour, which I loved, and handled everything as if it were personal. We spoke daily for a while and then less so, and our relationship was 90% remote, as we are in different states. With each test and outcome, she told me what the next step could be. In being so calm and knowledgeable, Myra is a welcome voice in all the foreign information thrown at you during a medical crisis. I am quite relieved to have had her there to speak with.

Over the nine years that Myra Katz and I worked together, she was a fierce and compassionate advocate for her patients. She is smart, hardworking and has great experience in helping patients navigate the complicated world of medicine.

"Everyone needs a Myra.” Upon receiving the news that we have all dreaded hearing our whole lives. When you are first diagnosed or even told that there is a mass, and they aren't positive about what it is...your life is turned completely around. My husband found Myra online and she was an absolute godsend especially during the first few weeks. At that point I didn't have a doctor and I remember texting Myra with certain questions and she would get right back to me and I was able to sleep at night.
Myra came with my husband and I to the doctor's appointments with a second set of ears. She would then send me an email with everything that was discussed.
My girlfriends who didn't even know her would say, "What did Myra say?" They loved her because she was giving me what I needed at the time. Everyone needs a Myra.

The question was seemingly straightforward: was Mom ready for home hospice?
Mom was out of breath, exhausted, consumed with pain, had little appetite, along with other symptoms. She has battled many serious health conditions for years. There were many opinions on what Mom most needed from her four daughters, a Hospice Advisor, Home Health Care Nurse Practitioner, Wound Care Nurses, and medical specialists.
Consulting with Myra was the best solution for getting past the “noise” of everyone’s opinions. She listened, was honest, and was sensitive as to where we were in Mom’s medical journey.
Myra’s advice in sorting out Mom’s medical needs were incredible. She started by analyzing her lengthy meds list. Some drugs were no longer beneficial. When I asked her Nurse Practitioner, she immediately agreed. (Yet, she didn’t recommend omitting them herself).
Then Myra gave me a list of questions to ask the Nurse Practitioner regarding Mom’s care and suggested a complete blood work panel. Myra’s insight enabled me to take control of a confusing and complicated situation, and as a result, I have been treated more respectfully ever since by her medical team. As a result of Myra’s help, it was determined that Mom was in desperate need of a blood transfusion. Myra then advised me on how to proceed with taking Mom to the ER during COVID to expedite the process and keep her safe.
We were in crisis mode---With Myra’s knowledge, her insight into navigating the medical system, and her experience with complicated medical issues, we could get Mom what she most needed.

Myra's medical experience allowed my family to understand treatments, prognoses, and options in a way we otherwise wouldn't have been able to after my family member's lung cancer diagnosis and throughout her treatment. Having someone who knows the ins and outs of hospitals as your advocate when faced with a medical challenge was incredibly useful and consistently made a very stressful situation easier. Myra asked questions that I didn't know enough about to even consider, reviewed medical records in detail, and insisted we got the clarity we needed from doctors. Her compassion was clear throughout. I am grateful for Myra during an incredibly stressful time for my family.

My most recent diagnosis with breast cancer started a chapter in my life that no one wants to face alone. It is difficult to wade through the available information and options about cancer treatments without a knowledgeable guide. I was fortunate to locate Katz Patient Advocate, Inc. who helped me examine my prescribed treatment plan based on best practices rather than on insurance expediency. Katz Patient Advocate, Inc. knew which questions would help me get to the answers I needed to ensure that my treatment plan was the best for me. With their help, I pursued a second opinion which changed my treatment plan to one that was less invasive. I now consider my cancer to be a chapter in my life that is behind me. Katz Patient Advocate, Inc. was part of ensuring the chapter had a happy ending.

I've worked with Myra twice now for back fusion surgery needed due to cancer getting into the vertebrae of my spine. Her advice was invaluable, especially when dealing with the John Hopkins system. She looked over my medical record and gave excellent feedback re questions to ask and advised re handling hospital discharge. I really appreciated Myra's help. She made a very stressful situation a little less stressful. Thank you, Myra.

If you are looking for a loyal and knowledgeable patient advocate, look no further than Myra Katz. Myra has advocated for and supported me through two bouts of cancer: one quite common, the other extremely rare. In both cases, Myra made recommendations and got me in quickly with two expert surgeons due to her experience and strong network. Throughout my treatments, she has been a source of strength and knowledge, always available to answer my questions, accompany me to doctors’ appointments, chemotherapy treatments and offer sound advice, allowing me to make educated decisions.
As I deal with the medical bureaucracy and doctors that often forget a patient’s mental and emotional well-being is as important as the medical regimen, I am grateful to have a person like Myra in my corner. She is a compassionate medical professional in every sense.

When we found out that our family member required a bone marrow transplant, and we were told that was not able to be left alone, and had to have daily treatments at Johns Hopkins Hospital, my husband and I were not sure how to proceed. We contacted Myra Katz, and our worries were over. She took him to the hospital every day, reviewed his daily laboratory tests with his medical team and met with the doctors as needed. She made sure that all his medications were correct and helped him manage his symptoms. Due to her compassion, medical knowledge, understanding of the medical system and dedication, we are happy to say that he did very well and never had any complications. We highly recommend Myra Katz.
