Temperature and Covid

As many of us have noted , when we go to the doctor, airport, and many other places, we are getting our temperature checked. Why? Because those of us with Covid often have an elevated temperature. If your oral temperature measures 100.4 F and above, you will be identified , and screened for Covid.

But being with people with a temperature of less than 100.4, gives us a false sense of security. The 100.4 means you are 1.8 degrees over “ normal.”, But what is “normal” anymore, certainly not 98.6. As we get older and humans evolve, our baseline temperature is probably a full degree lower for most of us, therefore we may be “running a fever” at 99.4.

So what do we do? Be proactive. Take your temperature twice a day at the same time for 2 weeks, and know your baseline. Therefore when you do get your temperature taken, you will know if you have a fever or not. Or if you don’t feel well, you will be aware if indeed you do have a fever or not. My baseline is 97.4, therefore if I have a temperature of 99.2, I have a fever and it is my responsibility go home, possibly quarantine and get Covid tested .

The only way to stop this disease is for us all to be responsible for our selves. Only then, and along with wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, will we be able to eradicate Covid.
